DSS @ LSU is a community of graduate and undergraduate students at LSU, with the aim of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration on Data Science related projects among students. Pursuant to that, the community offers or partakes in:
workshops through the Weekly Deviations program;
Data Science competitions and projects through the Kaggle and Analytics programs;
and professional development events through the Career Development Program.
Members are required to be actively involved in at least one of the programs below.
As the name connotes, the Weekly Deviations program hosts weekly seminar-like, psuedo-consulting or tutorial sessions on a variety of data science concepts or projects. The atmosphere is usually relaxed - members, faculty or guests present on some topics or pose a problem; and the audience ask questions, provide solutions or contributions. This program is also in charge of organizing casual social events.
